SADD

SADD students started the school year by making an impact throughout Malden High School during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September.

Students worked hard to plan and organize several activities focused on spreading awareness, encouragement, and messages of hope. SADD President Ja'Brylah Gary kicked off the month by writing positive affirmations and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline number near entrances throughout the high school. On September 10, the entire student body joined the effort by wearing purple and teal in support of suicide prevention awareness.

During Homecoming Week, Vice President Haleigh Lopez and Treasurer Vicky Castro created crisis hotline magnets and placed them in the high school restrooms, making important resources easily accessible to students.

During the final full week of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, SADD students filled the high school with teal and purple messages of hope. Students throughout the school participated in a Message of Hope Scavenger Hunt, finding encouraging messages and adding them to a special Wall of Hope.

SADD senior Maddie Thurston decorated the Wall of Hope with help from an elementary student who wanted to be part of the effort to spread awareness and encouragement.

We are proud of our SADD students for taking the initiative to remind others that hope, kindness, and support matter—and that no one has to face difficult moments alone.
